| 716 | Ivar Olssson i Sala fyller 75 Ivar Olsson kom som 14-åring till Jugansbo med sina föräldrar. Ganska snart flyttade han till Sala. Den 26 januari fyller han 75 år. Han är född på Adelsö, där hans pappa var ladugårdsförman och statare. ??Vi flyttade vartannat år till olika gårdar i Stockholmstrakten. Så var det på den tiden. Ivar Olsson var yngst i den sjuhövdade barnaskaran. ??Men jag har två syskon kvar i livet, ett i Flen och ett i Stockholm. ??Jag har två syskon kvar i livet, ett i Flen och ett i Stockholm. Båda föräldrarna hade sin rötter i Salatrakten och när de pensionerades hjälpte de sju barnen dem att köpa ett hus i Jugansbo. Det var bara Ivar som var yngst som flyttade med föräldrarna till Jugansbo, de andra var redan utflugna. Ivar ville helst bli kock, men hans far tyckte det var bäst att ta anställning i Jugansbo när det nu fanns jobb på så nära håll. ??Så jag började på Jugansbo smide och plåtslageri. Därmed var yrkesvalet gjort. Ivar Olsson gifte sig sedan och flyttade med sin fru till Sala där han började arbeta på Geréns mekaniska. ??Där jobbade jag i 17 år innan jag kom som reparatör till Strå kalkbruk. Det blev hela 17 år där också innan Ivar gick i pension. Han har en rejäl dos humor, Ivar Olsson, och har nära till skrattet och skämtet hela tiden. Sedan ungdomen har han varit engagerad i nykterhetsrörelsen. Nykterhetsrörelsen hade ju evenemang så det bara blev så. Han är fortfarande med i NTOoch Blå bandet. Sedan 25 år tillbaka är han sambo med Anne-Marie Kronlöf. Ett stort fritidsintresse är sommarstugan i Möklinta. Ska du fira din dag? Ja, något slags firande bli det, säger han och ser lite lurig ut. She worked as a homemaker for many years and delivered books to shut-ins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her son William Puderbaugh of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; daughter Katherine Kelly of Milwaukie; sister Mary Lou Lisk of Beaverton; niece Kim Helgerson of Columbia City; nephew Mike Lisk of Beaverton; cousin Maxine Koch; grandchildren Robbie, Terrell, and Calvin Kelly of Milwaukie; great niece Meghan Ramiskey; and great nephews Jake Ramiskey and Justin Helgerson. The ship was caught in a storm and landed in Virginia instead of New York., where his two brothers, Frank and Albin, were. . All he had for food was moldy bread and somehow found his way to the train station where some kind soul helped him get to Upland, Nebraska to his sister Elin who had married Frank Osterlund. Quite a feat for someone who didn't speak English at all. His oldest sister, Alma married a Bergman and also settled in New York. Den äldste sonen Martin Johan Olsson stannar kvar i Fläckebo Församling i en ålder av endast 12 år. Han stannar kvar i Vevdesboda och jobbar dom kommande åren som dräng innan han den 27/9 1928 flyttar till Västerfärnebo Församling. Han är dock snart tillbaka i Vevdesboda, närmare bestämd den 16/12 1929. Där stannar han till den 16/11 1932 då han flyttar till Holmbo i samma församling. Där jobbar han som jordbruksarbetare och kontrollassistent innan han den 22/12 1937 flyttar til Köping. Fadern Johan Oskar Olson gifter om sig den 4/12 1920 med Jenny Matilda Karlbom. 4 dagar senare, den 8/12 1920 flyttar Johan, hans nya hustru Jenny och Johans 3 barn från första äktenskapet (Lennart Oskar, Sven Arvid och Ingrid Maria) till Ekholmen i Veckholm Församling, Uppsala Län. Vistelsen här blir dock kortvarig eftersom familjen den 25/11 1921 flyttar till Lindormsnäs i Låssa Församling, Uppsala Län. Under dom kommande 3 åren utökas familjen med barnen Jenny Maria, Signe Matilda och Karl Johan. Den 27/11 1924, nästan exakt 3 år efter flytten till Lindormsnäs, är det dags att packa ihop igen. Familjen flyttar då till Säfsta i Västra Vingåker Församling, Södermanlands Län. Där jobbar Johan Oskar Olsson som maskin mjölkare. Åter igen utökas familjen med dottern Anna Kristina den 22/1 1926. Flyttlasset går dock snart igen, närmare bestämd den 26/11 1926 då familjen flyttar till Jordanstorp i Gryt Församling, Södermanlands Län. Alla utom den äldste sonen Lennart Oskar som flyttar till Sala den 1/12 1926. I Jordanstorp betecknas Johan Oskars yrke som ladugårdskarl. Tiden där blir inte heller långrandig, utan familjen flyttar åter igen drygt 4 år efter inflyttningen i Jordanstorp. Den 17/11 1930 flyttar alla förutom Sven Arvid och Ingrid Maria vidare till Forssa Församling, Södermanlands Län. Under tiden i Jordanstorp föds sonen Anders Erik den 23/1 1928. Sven Arvid flyttar den 6/11 1929 till gården Givesta i Frustuna Församling, Södermanlands Län. Där jobbar han som ladugårdskarl. Hans syster Ingrid Maria flyttar 2 dagar tidigare, den 4/11 1929 till Sala Stadsförsamling. Sven Arvid återförenas dock med sin familj den 26/11 1930 då han flyttar till Forsnäs i Forssa Församling, Södermanlands Län, 9 dagar efter att Johan Oskar med familj flyttat ditt. Åter igen stannar familjen endast en kort tid där. Först flyttar Sven Arvid den 10/4 1931 till Nässeläng i Lilla Malma (Malmköping) Församling, Södermanlands Län. Resten av familjen flyttar den 11/11 1931 till Nibble i Ytterjärna Församling, Södermanlands Län. Kort tid efter ankomsten födds dottern Margit Linnea den 2/12 1931. Fadern Johan Oskar jobbar som ladugårdskarl ved hennes födelse. När hon döps den 17/1 1932 är hon inte ensam om det. Hennes 4 äldre syskon Signe Matilda, Karl Johan, Anna Kristina och Anders Erik döps nämligen också den 17/1/1932. Dom hade hittills inte blivit döpta. Tillvaron i Nibble blir åter igen kortvarig eftersom Johan Oskar Olsson med familj flyttar vidare till Helleby i Hölö Församling, Stockholms Län den 7/12 1932. Resan är dock inte slut! Ett år senare, närmare bestämd den 21/11 1933 flyttar familjen vidare till Sättra i Adelsö Församling, Stockholms Län. Här betecknas Johan Oskar Olsson yrke som ladugårdsförman. Den 26/1 1935 föds Ivar Oskar, som är Johan Oskar och Jenny Olssons 7:e barn. För Johan Oskar är det barn nummer 12 eftersom han hade 5 barn med sin första hustru Anna Maria Bergström. Under tiden på Adelsö flyttar familjen i 1935 till Kunsta. Sen är det åter igen dags att röra på sig....den 1/11 1935 flyttar familjen till Säby i Ösmo Församling, Stockholms Län. Tiden där bliver ännu engång kort eftersom man redan ett år senare, den 3/11 1936, flyttar vidare till Skällnora, Kvarngården i Fresta Församling, Stockholms Län. Äldsta dottern Jenny Maria flyttar inte med, hon flyttar den 15/1 1937 till Västerhaninge. I såväl Säby som Skällnora jobbar Johan Oskar som ladugårdsförman. Familjen stannar i drygt 5 år på Skällnora, Kvarngården, innan dom den 12/11 1941 flyttar tillbaka till Ösmo Församling. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Holm Schreck, daughter Lauri Lester, and grandson Steven Lester, of Phoenix; sisters Anna Mae of Fairfax and Barbara Pond of Midlothian, VA. John earned his Doctoral degree from American University. He had a long career in education, retiring as Assistant Superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools in 1992. | 725 | John H. Schnuck, a prominent farmer of Boonville township, was born at Gooch's Mill, April 11, 1874. Mr. Schnuck is a son of John G. and Catherine (Meyer) Schnuck. John G. Schnuck was born in Germany in 1830. Catherine (Meyer) Schnuck, was born in Cooper County in 1842, on the farm later known as the Ulrich Oerly farm. John G. Schnuck owned and improved a farm of 225 acres east of Gooch's Mill. He died in 1880 and was buried in Pleas- ant Grove cemetery. Mrs. Schnuck now makes her home with her son, John H., the subject of this sketch. John G. Schnuck was, and his wife is, a member of the Lutheran Church. The children of John G. and Cath- erine (Meyer) Schnuck are: Mrs. Samuel Oerly, of Overton, Mo.; Mrs. Elizabeth Renken, of Boonville; Mrs. Catherine Smith, deceased; Henry E., a sketch of whom appears in this volume; Mrs. Annie Twillman, of St. Louis, and John H., the subject of this sketch. John H. Schnuck was educated in the public schools of Cooper County, attending school at Gooch's Mill in Liberty district. For about three years, he was in a drug business at Gooch's Mill. He abandoned this and engaged in farming on the home place for a few years, then moved to his present farm, which comprises 188 acres, of valuable land. In addition to the home place, Mr. Schnuck owns a farm of 90 acres located one mile east of the home place. The Schnuck homestead is located one mile south- east of the city limits of Boonville. Since coming to this farm, Mr. Schnuck has added two barns, fences and numerous other improvements. HISTORY OF COOPER COUNTY 1035 He is engaged in general farming and stockraising. Mrs. Schnuck is interested in the poultry industry and raises Buff Orpingtons, pure breds, and has one of the best flocks in the county. In 1899, John H. Schnuck was united in marriage with Margaret Oswald, a daughter of Herman and Christina Oswald. To Mr. and Mrs. Schnuck were born five children: Katherine, Beatrice, Oswald, Norbert and Vergil, all at home. Mrs. Schnuck died in 1909 and her remains are interred in the Catholic cemetery at Boonville. Sept. 28, 1911, Mr. Schnuck was married to Josephine Rossen, a daughter of S. C. and Elizabeth (Rob- ertson) Rossen, the former a native of Denmark, and the latter of Arkan- sas. S. C. Rossen was born in 1849, and his wife was born in 1861. They are both residents of Boonville, and he is the pi-esent superintendent of the County Home of Cooper County. The children of S. C. and Elizabeth Rossen are: Mrs. Schnuck, the wife of the subject of this sketch; James, of St. Louis, Mo. ; Albertine, deceased ; Frederick, of St. Louis ; and Ed- ward, who, at the time of this writing, is in France, a corporal with Com- pany F, 110th Supply Train. Corporal Edward Rossen enlisted in the service of the United States in June, 1917, and he has been in France since May, 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Schnuck had a son, Joseph Rossen, who died at the age of six years in Sept., 1918. Mr. Schnuck is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. | 726 | John M. "Jack" Lollar August 5, 1933 - November 26, 2012 A memorial service will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wasco First United Methodist Church for John M. "Jack" Lollar, who died November 26, 2012. Jack was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, August 5, 1933 to Perry O. and Isabelle Romero Lollar. Growing up in Modesto and Bakersfield, he graduated from East Bakersfield High in 1951. After attending Bakersfield College, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his Certificate of Physical Therapy from the University of California, San Francisco in 1955. His career as a physical therapist spanned nearly six decades, working primarily with the severely disabled. Jack married Ione Jensen on April 22, 1961. In 1962, they moved from Bakersfield to Wasco, where they raised their two children, Laura/ie and Richard. They were very involved in the community and kids' activities, especially Wasco Swim Club. Jack served as Kiwanis Club President, President of the Wasco Festival of Roses, and was Young Man of the Year in 1968. He and Ione were founding directors of the Wasco Rose Festival Art Show and were the first dual recipients of Lifetime Palm Avenue PTA Memberships. Jack and Ione worked side by side in their physical therapy private practice in Shafter until 1983, when they began their first retirement. They moved to Shafter in 1984 and quickly became involved in that community. Jack served on the Shafter Visions committee and the two of them were devoted volunteer Green Hotel Cooks. He and Ione were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from Richland PTA. At the time of his death, Jack was still serving as Chairperson of the Administrative Board of the Wasco United Methodist Church. Until his second retirement on November 16, 2012, Jack continued as a physical therapy consultant to more than a dozen agencies in Kern and Tulare Counties including the Kern High School District and Delano Association of Developmentally Disabled (DADD). He was instrumental in the founding of organizations such as the Wasco Association of Developmentally Disabled (now Community Service Options); Kern Regional Center, Mastering Abilities Riding Equine (MARE), MOVE International, Kiwanis Wasco Preschool (now Head Start) and the Jack and Ione Lollar Foundation. His writings have been published in specialized association and curriculum publications internationally. Jack was an avid reader, art collector and private pilot - but most of all he enjoyed traveling and relished life with family and friends. He especially enjoyed the bridge group, the Once-A-Year Club, being a BIL to PEO Chapter JT, and sharing special occasions with his children's close friends. He also enjoyed his many visits to Temple Beth El supporting each grandson prepare for his Bar Mitzvah. His speech at each ceremony created extra special memories for them. Believing "life is the journey, not the destination," he meticulously catalogued treasured memories in photo albums and commemorative books, most especially of regular trips with the grandkids to San Francisco, Yosemite, Nebraska, and Santa Fe. Other "journeys" include European trips, travels throughout North America (including a trip to watch the Apollo Soyuz space launch at Cape Canaveral), and years of season tickets to the Mark Taper Forum, often shared with the children and special friends. Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ione; daughter Laurie Wolfe, her husband Bill and sons Matthew and Daniel of Shafter; son Richard and wife Christine (Harris), their children Katie, Gregory, Emily and Isabelle and their three grandchildren, all of Bakersfield. His brother Richard M. Lollar and his wife Wanda of Downer's Grove, Illinois, along with their four sons and wives, are also treasured members of the family. Numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins across the U.S, also celebrate his memory. | 727 | John R. Thompson, 85, of Westborough died on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center. He was the husband of Norma A. (Wentworth) Thompson. Born in Independence, Kansas, he was the son of the late John H. and Helen M. (Quitzau) Thompson. He was raised and educated in Texas and was a graduated of Texas Tech. John also served with the U.S Navy. John was employed as a chemical engineer for Bay State Abrasives and in later years owned and operated Compass Labs in Westborough. Being an entrepreneur he had three U. S. Patents for grinding wheels. He enjoyed traveling and had visited 40 countries, all 50 states and all the Presidential Libraries. He also enjoyed investing and the stock market and was a member of The Congregational Church of Westborough. In addition to his wife he is survived by his family, Robert Thompson, Paul Hogan, Ann Holm, Joseph Holm, Rachel Holm, Dylan Holm, Linda Maneen, Joseph Maneen, Jr., Kaylee Maneen and Joseph Maneen, III. After his discharge he moved to North Platte in 1971, and worked at Nebraska Machinery. He married Donna Schmidt on June 18, 1977, at the Messiah Lutheran Church. He was part owner and operator of San-Dens Arts and Crafts with his sister. He was a commodities broker with his cousin, Jim. He returned to college, graduated from Kearney State College with a bachelor's degree and master's degree in art education. He taught at St. Pat's High School for the last 12 years. He belonged to the Messiah Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Donna of North Platte; one son, Joe Awtry of Lincoln; sister, Sandy and husband, Dick Foran of North Platte; and brother, Wayne Awtry of McCook. Memorial services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Messiah Lutheran Church in North Platte with the Rev. Lynn Parsons officiating. In her earlier years she received her degree and worked as a nurse in Iowa. She then spent many years as a full-time mother raising her two daughters. Later on she became a paralegal and worked as a child advocate helping children of abuse. She was also the church secretary at the First Congregational Church in Boulder. She married Phil Olbert on Dec. 15, 1988. Later, they owned and operated the Lazy H Guest Ranch in Allenspark for eight years and then retired to Parker. She is survived by her husband, Phil; two daughters, Jennifer Ecker of Chicago; Tami Inskeep and her husband Jason of Greeley; two stepdaughters, Holly Price of Denver and Valerie Brown of Crownsville, Md.; four grandchildren, Katie Ecker, Sierra and Colton Inskeep and Corinne Price and her brother, Joel Klaessy of Minneapolis. He worked in the display department of Sears, Roebuck and Co. and then served overseas as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. On his return, he attended Portland State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science. Kyle married Stella Lindberg Aug. 24, 1957. He taught art at Centennial High School and Parkrose Heights Junior High School. Later, he was a safety engineer for Wausau Insurance and retired from Portland Public Schools as a safety consultant. Kyle is survived by his wife, Stella of Tigard; son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Julie; grandchildren, Emmeline and Bret, all of Ridgefield, Conn.; daughter, Lisa; grandson, William, both of Portland; and numerous nieces and nephews. Minna was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Hurup, Denmark, to Nels Sondergaard and Hilda (Kjaergaard) Thomsen. She graduated from Minden High School and attended college and worked in California until marrying her high school sweetheart, Duane Newbold, on April 10, 1948. They had five children - Ward, Grant, Gina, Gail and Dee Ann. They farmed the original Newbold homestead, milked dairy cattle and raised cattle and hogs. Minna also worked at Eaton Corp. in Kearney for 20 years. She was very proud that she became a naturalized citizen of the United States. She enjoyed attending auctions, traveling, cooking, baking, collecting china, crafting and circle. She helped with elections in Kearney County into her 80s, was active in Danish Brotherhood, Danish Dancers and as treasurer of the Kearney County Museum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; son, Ward; brother, Wisthi; sister, Anny; and son-in-law, David Deyle. Ken gave his life to Jesus on April 1, 1983 and loved the Lord with all his heart. He always said he was a fool for Christ. In 1985 he married Glenda Cox who had two daughters, Natalie and Jaclyn. He was a faithful husband, and devoted father and adoring “Papa/grandpa”. Ken loved his church family and was always willing to serve. One of those I so respected and still do is my Great-Grandfather; Chris L Jensen, who came to America in the 1890's working his way over on a cattle ship from Denmark, signed the required paperwork disavowing his former Country and King while pledging allegiance to America (which he did willingly and with great excitement). He made his way with his brother to Nebraska and homesteaded just north of my hometown, Curtis. He never learned to drive, walking everywhere he went including to and from work (apporx. 8 miles each day) every work day. The attached photo is from one of his special days in this very special country. She was born August 15, 1950 to Page and Margaret Steelhammer at Centralia, WA. Attended school in Centralia and graduated from WSU in 1972. Christy loved gardening (and was a WSU Master Gardener) farming, quilting and playing with her children and later grandchildren. As a dairy farmer, she had no time to go on vacation, so she turned her yard into a park. She was equally at home riding horses, digging in dirt or leading a meeting. After retiring from the dairy at age 50, she went back to school and became a Certified Public Accountant. Christy is survived by her parents at the farm in Centralia, siblings Greg (Mary) at Las Vegas, Norman (Ilona) and Gail (Jerry) at Centralia. She leaves her husband and best friend of 37 years Steve, three sons; Ty, Nick (Shannon) and Ross (Debbie), nine grandchildren, and many other beloved family members and friends. Christy was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all. She will be remembered for her smile that lit up her whole face, her positive attitude and her cheerful, sunny disposition. Bridesmaids were Heather Steele of Benkelman, Sara Ware of Culbertson and Marie Wesch of McCook. The bride's attendants all wore burgundy, satin, two-piece, floor-length gowns and silver elbow-length gloves and carried a bouquet of fresh, white roses. The best man was Kurt Sawyer of Mason City. Bridegroomsmen were lan Reagan of Wauneta, Casey Thompson of Curtis, Kanen Hammond of Curtis and Ryan Hammond of Arapahoe. He was born October 30, 1927 in Curtis, NE, son of Jorgen Peter and Anna (Jepsen) Jorgensen. Loren graduated from UNSA in Curtis in 1945. Loren lived at Curtis until he went into the Army. He was stationed in Japan during his service. He married Lorraine Stohlmann on October 4, 1952 at Van Nuys, CA. They lived in North Hollywood until 1954 when they returned to Curtis with their son Michael. Children Bill and Sue were born after the return to Curtis. Loren was a farmer and carpenter for many years. In 2011, they moved to Linden Court in North Platte. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed playing Pinochle and Pitch, reading Louis L?Amour Books and other Western books. He especially loved going down each morning for coffee with his friends where they played the ?number? game. Lorraine was born on August 31, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to William and Mary "Mame" (Oetzel) Stohlmann. At the age of 14 she moved with her family to Los Angles, CA. She attended high school at North Hollywood High School graduating in 1946. On October 4, 1952 Lorraine married Loren R. Jorgensen at Burbank, CA. To this union three children were born: Mike, Bill and Sue. In 1954 the couple moved to Curtis were they spend the next 56 years. In 2010 they moved to Linden Court in North Platte. Lorraine worked various clerical /accounting jobs for KN Energy, Curtis Medical Clinic and the Frontier County Court House. Lorraine was a member of a bridge club, enjoyed playing pinnocle and involved in the Curtis Easter Pageant for many years. She enjoyed watching cardinal birds and was also a big St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards and would always want to play "just one more hand". She also enjoyed bingo and singing. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Loren R.
